Biography Of a Sinistral

By Bryan Peterson AKA Gades

My story takes place long before the events of either of the Lufia games and is told from the point of view of Arek, master of the Sinistrals. I thought I'd write one that would go along with my previous story and would tell the story of what happened before Doom Island and before Arek got his butt kicked by the good versions of the Sinistrals. There are three parts to my story. The first will be about the beginning. The second will cover the two battles with the Sinistrals, and the final chapter will tell about what happened afterwards.

Part 1: The Beginning

As all men know in the beginning was the universe created. With it came the world and the creatures that live upon it. And also with the universe did I come. I am Arek, and I am the very essence of evil. Upon the day that I came I also caused to be made other gods, but none were evil, as I am. In rage I called forth four new children whom I vowed would never stray from the dark path. First came Daos, who was the most powerful of the four. Next came Erim, cruel and wicked. Following her came Amon, the very essence of fear. Finally came Gades, the youngest of the four. He was brash and savage and sought only to destroy. I sent them out into the universe and allowed them to grow stronger. Finally, on the day when I believed them ready, I summoned Erim. "Master," said she, "You summoned me?" "I did." I replied, "Who do you think should rule this world?" I asked, "Should it be we Sinistrals or those pathetic humans?" "There is no doubt in my mind that it should be we that rule this land." "Good." Said I, "Dual Blade has told me that the time has come when the fate of this world must be decided. A brave mortal must take up the sword and challenge us." "You say Dual Blade is resonating?" Erim asked. "It is time." I said, "One of us must find a mortal who can wield the Dual Blade and prepare him. Would you go?" Without a word, Erim vanished.

Part 2: The Doom Island Wars

Upon Erim's departure I summoned my other children and ordered them to prepare against the coming of our enemies. This they did without question. To prepare the young man, (Maxim by name), Erim disguised herself as a goddess called Iris, a girl seeking answers and knowledge. She appeared to the young mortal and his friends at times during their journey and gave them little hints and pieces of advice. Things appeared to be going well until Gades, Sinistral of Destruction, met with Maxim's band and was defeated. In a last act of destruction, Gades activated a device that would sink the kingdom of Parcelyte into the sea, for there we knew would Maxim have a child. This plan failed miserably and the victory brought courage to the heroes. In anger, Amon sent Idura, a servant of his, to abduct the child of Maxim and destroy him. This plan also failed, and resulted in Idura's humiliating defeat. After Idura was defeated again in the Tower of Sacrifice, Amon told him to be gone and never to return. Enraged, Idura made one last attempt to destroy Maxim, and failed again. After Maxim and his band had thwarted numerous plans of ours, they came at last to Doom Island. THe battle that took place there became a legend among mortals, and my children were destroyed. THe only good thing that came out of it all was that they took Maxim and his wife Selan with them. In rage, I vowed that one day I would be revenged on them. A century passed and finally I revived my children and sent them once again into the world that we sought to rule. BY this time Maxim's descendants had well-nigh forgotten us, but the current one, a young man named Wedge, had enough courage to prepare for our return. The same thing happened here as in the first battle, except that Erim didn't join us. She was revived as a girl named Lufia, and she fought with Wedge. After many more of my children's plans were thwarted, the companions came to Glasdar tower. There, Daos was able to recapture Erim, who took Dual Blade from Wedge. Yes, they even had the courage to venture into Doom Island's watery resting place to steal Dual Blade. The remaining companions, Aguro, Wedge and Jerin, (the last being an elfmaid armed with Artea's accursed bow), came to Doom Island and destroyed my children again. They even won when my children merged into one creature, (of course Lufia escaped again and helped Wedge achieve victory. The event that happeneed afterwards enraged me to no end. Lufia revealed that she was indeed Erim and that to prevent the Sinistrals from ever reviving, Lufia must be destroyed. In sorrow, Wedge used the Dual Blade to destroy the last of my children. She was reborn as Lufia again, but now she was firmly out of my hands. In anger I began to think of ways to get revenge.

Part 3: Arek's Revenge

Three or four years passed in the land of the mortals, and I and my servant Zemus pondered ways to get revenge. We never got around to it, thanks to good versions of my children. I got ready to send monsters to Earth but then I caught sight on my Television set of those whom I hated. They were leaving for another world. Curious, I watched, only to learn that my children had revived and were now firmly against me. They came to my castle and challenged me. Even though I called upon all my powers I ended up getting my ass kicked. It was right when I was in the worst agony I have ever experienced that Zemus revealed himself to be my greatest enemy, Maxim! I could do nothing to stop what was going to happen. Selan appeared then and added to my pain by shoving a dagger between my shoulder blades. I lost all my strength when Maxim rammed the hated Dual Blade into me. Then they escaped, leaving me in pain and agony. Now I'm alone in the universe and defenseless. But here me, descendant of Maxim, I _will have my revenge. I guarantee that!
